Digital transformation and reskilling investment marks first move by Benesse Digital Innovation Fund

Leading provider of immersive technology education in Japan Code Chrysalis announced that it has raised ¥160 million yen from Benesse Corporation, one of the largest companies in the education sector in Japan.

The deal marks a first for Benesse's Digital Innovation Fund, established with ¥5 billion yen in November of 2021, for the education company to invest in education, life, and nursing sectors along with venture companies with a focus on digital transformation.

"We are very pleased that this capital and business alliance has been realized, and at the same time," said Tomonori Iida, General Manager of Business Development at Benesse. "Together, we would like to promote reskilling and DX human resource development in Japanese society."

Rapid digital transformation in Japan is pushing companies to re-skill their workforce and secure valuable new talent to drive business growth and stay above the competition. The IT talent shortage is the largest and this problem will only continue to compound as the world speeds forward. Code Chrysalis is on the leading edge of addressing this problem in Japan.

"The partnership with Benesse is very exciting," said Kani Munidasa, CEO of Code Chrysalis. The investment will enable Code Chrysalis to expand in order to meet the growing demand of enterprise customers and explore new markets. It also marks just one part of the growing strategic partnership between Code Chrysalis and Benesse. The investment in Code Chrysalis is part of Benesse's push to better support alternative paths to fulfilling careers, which includes an investment in Udemy in 2020.
